Making Links In Board Posts

Category: Zone BBS Q&A

Is it possible to make a link to a website when I make a board post on here? I thought I'd heard it done before, but couldn't work out how to do it.

This subject has been discussed in full in the past. You can find the answer to your question with a quick search through the boards for html, or something similar. Normally, I'd create a time-saving link to the relevant topic, but...

There's some html code you can use for links but I don't know how to show it.

Use something like this:
< a href="[protocol]://[url]" > [text of link] < /a >
Protocol is the protocol of the page (http, https, ftp, etc), url is the web address (e.g., www.zonebbs.com), and text of link is whatever text you want to use as the on-screen text that the user sees or hears. Also, some people might have their screen readers set to only speak the title attribute of a link, so it's better to do this:
< a href="[protocol]://[url]" title="[text of title]" > [text of link] < /a >

making links is not as hard as it seems. i could remember thinking "holy hell! that's hard". but it's not that bad :). here is a link to the zone bbs's site.
note: this example has quotes in it. take out the quotes and you will have it.

"the zone BBS"
now. take the quote off the beginning and end and there you go.
here is a working link to the google site.
google the search engine

hope it helped

it's like mensioned above.

" text that you want to appear for the link "
let's see if that worked.

I've seen links on boardposts before, but can't remember how to do it. I thought I was meant to press the applications key on the keyboard, but obviously not.

If the "pre" tag is enabled for board posts, you can use it and enclose any other HTML code inside of it to make that code not be rendered.
<pre>
< a href="[protocol]://[url]" title="[some sample text]"> [text of link] < /a >
</pre>
